The University of San Diego Alumni Honors recognize the exceptional achievements and contributions of alumni in various fields. These prestigious awards honor individuals who have made a significant impact on their communities, industries, and the world, embodying the values and spirit of USD.

The recipient of this award is an alumnus or alumna who: 
  • Embodies the mission and values of the University of San Diego
  • Exhibits extraordinary contribution and commitment to humanitarian causes
  • Promotes human welfare, rights, and dignity
  • Advocates peace, justice, and freedom

Bishop Charles Francis Buddy Award
The Bishop Charles Francis Buddy Award is presented annually to an alumnus/alumna who graduated from the University of San Diego ten or more years ago, in recognition of their extraordinary contribution to humanitarian causes.

The recipient of this award is an alumnus or alumna who: 
  • Embodies the mission and values of the University of San Diego
  • Exhibits extraordinary contribution and commitment to humanitarian causes
  • Promotes human welfare, rights, and dignity
  • Advocates peace, justice, and freedom
Eligibility: All USD alumni are eligible to receive this award except current members of the faculty, staff, administration, Board of Trustees, Alumni Association Board of Directors, Recognition Committee, and elected officials currently serving office. The following information will help us recognize the incredible contributions of our alumni.

Mother Rosalie Clifton Hill Award
The Mother Rosalie Clifton Hill Award is presented annually to an alumnus/alumna who graduated from the University of San Diego ten or more years ago, in recognition of their extraordinary service and commitment to the University.

The recipient of this award is a volunteer who: 
  • Embodies the mission and values of the University of San Diego
  • Exhibits extraordinary service and commitment to the University
  • Supports and is actively engaged with the University and/or the USD Alumni Association
  • Maintains a continuous relationship with the University
Eligibility: All USD alumni are eligible to receive this award except current members of the faculty, staff, administration, Board of Trustees, Alumni Association Board of Directors, Recognition Committee, and elected officials currently serving office.

Author Hughes Career Achievement Award
The Author E. Hughes Career Achievement Award is presented annually to an alumnus/alumna who graduated from the University of San Diego ten or more years ago, in recognition of their extraordinary career achievements.

The recipient of this award: 
  • Embodies the mission and values of the University of San Diego
  • Consistently excels in his or her profession
  • Positively impacts his or her organization, industry, profession, and/or community
  • Personifies ethical leadership
Eligibility: All USD alumni are eligible to receive this award except current members of the faculty, staff, administration, Board of Trustees, Alumni Association Board of Directors, Recognition Committee, and elected officials currently serving office.

Emerging Leader Award
Similar in scope to the Author Hughes Career Achievement Awards, the Emerging Leader Award is given to an alumnus or alumna who graduated from USD within the last 10 years, has achieved significant professional success, and has made a positive impact on their organization, industry, profession, and/or community.

The recipient of this award: 
  • Embodies the mission and values of the University of San Diego
  • Is considered a “rising star” in his or her profession
  • Positively impacts his or her organization, industry, profession, and/or community
  • Personifies ethical leadership
Eligibility: All USD alumni are eligible to receive this award except current members of the faculty, staff, administration, Board of Trustees, Alumni Association Board of Directors, Recognition Committee, and elected officials currently serving office.
